How To Enter Email Lists

Entering lists into Send Planner is a simple process but it is important that you enter them in with the correct information and rules to make the most out of your plan.

From the dashboard, click Lists on the left hand menu. Once on the list page, you will see the Add New List form on the right hand side.

Fill out all of the fields and click the green save button once completed. Make sure to read the tips and tricks section at the end.

List Name – enter the name of your list.

Niche Tag – You may have lists in different niches and/or only want to send offers in certain niches. You can create new niches by selecting the +Add New Niche Tag. You can assign as many niches to your lists as you want.

List Weight – The higher the weight, the more importance Send Planner will give to this list when assigning offers for the plan.

List Send Time – This setting is only important if you are using an integrated ESP but has to have a value regardless. Enter the time your list would be scheduled.

Scheduled With – This setting is specific to Maropost integration but again must have a value. If you do not use Maropost with this list, just choose any value. If you do use Maropost, choose the sending option that works best for this list.

Offer Frequency Time Frame – This is simply the number of days that must elapse before an offer can be sent again. You don’t want to over send or under send top offers so make sure to give some thought to this entry.

Offer Frequency From Selected Lists – This is an optional field. Sometimes marketers will have some email lists that have more than a little overlap. If you have lists that have too much overlap, use this setting. Select the number of days between when the selected lists sent an offer and when this list can send it again. Typically this would be less than the offer frequency for the list itself but can be set for any amount of days up to 31.

Selected Lists – This field is only required if you used the above field. Select the list(s) you would like Send Planner to consider frequency of offer with when planning.

Tips and Tricks

 – When entering the list name, consider using abbreviations. This will make viewing in the calendar easier. For example, if your lists name is TodaysHealthNews you could simply name it THN.

 – When assigning a niche tag, I suggest using very few. For example, if you are in the health niche but have one list that sends financial offers you could make all your lists tag “health” and then make your investment list “investment”. When you enter offers, you will also be assigning a niche so only offers with the niche investment could be sent to that list.

 – When assigning list weight, make sure to give your top few lists the best ratings. I like to make my highest rated list a 9. That way if I have a new list later that is doing even better, I can still give it a 10. Also on weighting, marketers with many lists will want to consider putting lists in groups. Having multiple lists at the same rating will ensure that offers are getting planned across all lists. Whereas if you had a list that was weighted 1, it may never get the higher weighted offers planned.

If you have lists that you sends more than once day:

You can create multiple lists. This is useful if you want different weighting for the different sends. For example, your THN list may be a weighted 9 list at 8am but for your afternoon send it may only be a weighted 6. This will make sure the second send is treated as its own list. You would then need to use the offer frequency from selected lists option to ensure you weren’t sending same offers to same list at different time.
